Capacity Development for Coexistence and Cooperative Works: Company Visit

10 students of "Capacity Development for Coexistence and Cooperative Works" visited Seiko Electric Co., Ltd. in Koga City, Fukuoka Prefecture from February 8 to 9.

In this course, along with developing fundamental skills for cooperative works through dialogue, debate and self-expression, students have worked on an assignment of "Appeal the attractiveness of the company" as part of corporate analysis. In last December, HR persons from the company gave an online lecture on the company's profile and corporate initiatives. Then, the students were divided into teams of the Kyotanabe Campus (students majoring in science) and the Imadegawa Campus (students majoring in humanities) to prepare for their presentations.

On the first day, the group traveled to Fukuoka and visited Koga Office of Seiko Electric Co., Ltd. Through the tour of the factory and offices, they observed the manufacturing site and witnessed the company's emphasis on employee comfort.

The next day, each team gave a presentation on what they had actually seen and heard on-site, in addition to what they had prepared in the classes. It was a very valuable opportunity for the students to seek the company's appeal points from both scientific and humanities perspectives, and to present their findings in front of the company's employees. The employees asked some questions and offered warm words of encouragement, and some students said “I want to work in this company.” These two days should have been a stimulating experience for the participants to consider their own future.

We would like to thank Seiko Electric Co., Ltd. for their cooperation.
