Aims and Contents:
The war in Gaza, which has resulted in a "humanitarian situation beyond description" (UN Secretary-General Guterres) due to cross-border attacks by the Islamic organization Hamas and retaliation by Israeli forces, has drawn harsh criticism from the international community against Israel, which has continued its attacks despite a UN General Assembly resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire. South Africa has filed a lawsuit against Israel for violation of the Genocide Convention, and the question of whether it is "Just War" (Israeli Prime Minister) or "Genocide" (South African President) is now being asked. Why doesn't Israel stop fighting? In this talk event, an Israeli producer at the Mainichi Shimbun's Jerusalem bureau will be invited to examine the "Israeli side's logic" mainly in light of its historical background and the current political situation in the country.
