Summary
The"comfort women" – women who were forced into sexual slavery by Japan's imperial army between 1932 and 1945 – represent one of Japan's most contentious political battlegrounds, both within the country and in its diplomatic relationship with South Korea. History, politics, and diplomacy all intersect as various state and non-state actors try to seek their form of justice. The groundbreaking documentary Shusenjo examines the comfort women from all these angles, never forgetting the stories of the humans that were directly victimized.

We look forward to seeing you there.
