Admissions Guide for GRM

Applicants: Students who will enroll in Master's Degree Program of Doshisha in April 2018, October 2018, or have enrolled in October 2017.

GRM Candidates

 Global Resource Management (GRM) is a five-year doctoral program to be taken throughout Master's Degree Program and Doctoral Degree Program. At the end of Master's first year and the end of the first semester of Master's second year, Preliminary Examination (PE) is conducted to select those who will be GRM Students.
 For the students who are interested in GRM Program and have a strong desire to take GRM courses during Master's first year may become "GRM Candidates". GRM Candidates can take courses under GRM Program even before being formally chosen as GRM Students.


All of the following four conditions (1) - (4) must be met for application eligibility.

  • (1) Applicants must be in Master's Degree Program of Doshisha University and must belong to one of the core graduate schools(*1) or collaborating graduate schools(*2) listed below. At the time of application, applicants must be (or expect to be) in the first or second semester, excluding leave of absence period.
  • (2) Applicants must have deep understanding of the GRM Program and a strong desire to take courses offered under the GRM Program.
  • (3) In addition to obtaining a Ph.D., applicants must have an academic plan to complete GRM Program by advancing to one of the core graduate schools or collaborating graduate schools (Doctoral Degree Program of Doshisha University).
  • (4) Applicants must hold consultations with academic supervisor regarding their research plans under GRM Program, and must obtain the consent of the supervisor regarding their application for the program.

Students must submit necessary documents by the due date.

  • ①Student must submit a statement of purpose and a research plan.
  • ②Student must obtain academic supervisor’s permission to take GRM courses
  • ③Student must meet one of the professors in charge of GRM (listed in the booklet “Admissions Guide”), confirm the stated purpose of GRM, understand how to take GRM courses, and have the professor sign at the bottom of the paper detailing a research plan, so as to certify the meeting.

Admissions Guide:

Application forms are available at the offices of Graduate School of Global Studies, Graduate School of Science and Engineering, or Department of Advanced Research and Education (Neiseikan 1F).

Please note that the location to file application materials depends on the graduate school with which the applicant is affiliated.
