Working at international organizations: Your heart likes; your brain often struggles.


The talk will focus on the types of work in these organizations and on what they look for in qualifications and skill-sets for people wishing to work there.  One useful reminder is that these organizations are means and not the goal which ultimately makes one happy.

[PROFILE]
Mr. Kuroda followed his passion which took him after graduating with an MBA and completing the examinations to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.  He moved to New York several years later and to the World Bank in Washington.  Throughout his 33-year career with these organizations, he travelled to countries in all regions except Latin America (so he still has work to do) meeting, talking and listening to peoples from all walks of life, some in high places, some suffering from devastation, some searching answers to toughest issues.  While assisting the peoples much less endowed and empowered, he has come away being enriched by them.  As each student searches his/her path to the future, he hopes that everyone puts a little back along the way.
He held posts at UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs: OCHA and World Bank.
